Justin Bieber Storms Out of Depo Over Selena Questions

Justin Bieber lost his cool under oath Thursday, when a lawyer started peppering him with questions about Selena Gomez ... TMZ has learned.

Bieber sat for a 4 1/2 hour deposition in Miami in connection with a lawsuit filed by a photog who claims last June Bieber sent his hired muscle to beat him up.

The contentious lawyer for the bodyguard drilled Bieber on a variety of subjects, but things spun out of control when Selena Gomez was raised.

The lawyer started asking if Selena was present during any incident involving fights with photogs.  Bieber's lawyer, Howard Weitzman, felt the lawyer was just trying to get a rise so he objected.  But the lawyer persisted and asked again ... Bieber was fuming and Weitzman jumped in and said his client was being harassed.

Doctor testifies in Pistorius trial

A doctor who said he saw Oscar Pistorius weeping over his dead or dying girlfriend after he shot her has resumed testimony in the murder trial of the double-amputee runner.
Radiologist Johan Stipp was being questioned by defense lawyer Barry Roux on Friday, a day after Stipp described how Pistorius knelt at Reeva Steenkamp's side and struggled in vain to help her breathe by holding two fingers in her clenched mouth.
Pistorius shot Steenkamp in the bathroom of his home before dawn on Feb. 14 last year. He says he fired after mistaking Steenkamp for an intruder; prosecutors allege the Olympian intentionally killed Steenkamp after a loud argument.

Pistorius weeps as witness recalls shooting scene horror

A weeping Oscar Pistorius shielded his ears as a witness in his murder trial on Thursday gave harrowing evidence about desperate attempts to save Reeva Steenkamp's life after she was shot.

Rocking back and forth in the dock, Pistorius put his hands over his ears as neighbour and radiologist Johan Stipp recounted how he entered his house to find the distraught Paralympian bent over, attempting to resuscitate his girlfriend.
Stipp noticed a wound on Steenkamp's right thigh, right upper arm, and "blood, hair and what looked like brain tissue intermingled with that" on top of the skull.
Amid the scene of horror, Stipp said he quickly realised the 29-year-old model's injuries were too severe to be survivable.
"She had no pulse in her neck, she had no peripheral pulse, she had no breathing movements that she made. She was clenching down on Oscar's fingers as he was trying to open her airway."
"I opened her right eyelid, the pupil was fixed dilated and the cornea was milky, in other words it was already drying out, so to me it was obvious that she was mortally wounded."
During the testimony sobbing could be heard around the courtroom as Steenkamp's family and friends sat arm in arm, disconsolate.
Stipp continued: "While I was trying to ascertain if she's revivable, Oscar was crying all the time, he prayed to God to please let her live, she must not die."
"He said at one stage, while he was praying, that he will dedicate his life and her life to God if she would just only live and not die that night."
"I couldn't do anything for her, she was way too seriously injured for that."
Stipp also said he wanted to locate Pistorius, fearing the sprinter may have been a danger to himself.
"Oscar was emotionally very, very upset and I didn't know the situation in the house so I thought maybe he was going to hurt himself."
Stipp's evidence is the first eye-witness account of what happened inside Pistorius's home that evening since the trial began on Monday.
Pistorius stands accused of murdering Steenkamp, a 29-year-old model and law graduate.
He claims to have shot her through a locked toilet door after mistaking her for an intruder.
Stipp also testified to being woken by gunshots and screams coming from Pistorius's home on the night of February 14, 2013, and then rushing over to see if he could help.
But the sequence of events appeared not to tally exactly with the evidence from three other neighbours who heard screams then shots.
Pistorius's defence lawyer earlier accused one of those witnesses of tailoring his evidence to fit his wife's account in order to "incriminate" the athlete.
"There is a design on your side to incriminate," advocate Barry Roux said, claiming Charl Johnson's evidence was made in collusion with that of his wife and fellow key witness, Michelle Burger.
"You desperately want her version not to form part of this document," said Roux, pointing at the witness. "You want to extricate any suggestion that this version was also your wife's version."
Johnson, a soft-spoken IT manager wearing a red tie and a navy blue suit jacket, denied Roux's accusation.
"My lady, I dispute that," he said addressing judge Thokozile Masipa.
Roux contends the married couple's testimony has "striking similarities" and is therefore contaminated.
The allegation could lessen the impact of the pair's statements.

Nobel-winning author writes open letter rejecting government honour in protest against inclusion of former military dictator

The sheer weight of indignation and revulsion of most of Nigerian humanity at the recent Boko Haram atrocity in Yobe is most likely to have overwhelmed a tiny footnote to that outrage, small indeed, but of an inversely proportionate significance.
This was the name of the hospital to which the survivors of the massacre were taken.

According to Us Weekly, Cyrus once again shocked fans (and, it seems, Perry), by going into the crowd to plant a big ole smacker on her fellow pop star’s lips right in the middle of performing her latest hit, Adore You.

Perry has long been a fan of Cyrus and had tweeted her Cyrus excitement prior to the show, saying, “I hope @MileyCyrus sings Breakout or The Climb tonight please bb!”

After the photo of their kiss went viral, Perry shared her own post-smooch shot, which features Cyrus

“And after! I adore you @Miley Cyrus,” she said.

Cyrus, of course, has been making headlines due to her controversial Bangerz Tour, which not surprisingly feature a stack of raunchy costumes and er, suggestive set pieces, like a rocking hot dog and that infamous foam finger, which no doubt, will soon have its own reality show.

Hillary Clinton Blasts Putin After Hitler Remark

Hillary Clinton has kept up the pressure on Vladimir Putin a day after comparing the Russian president's actions in Crimea to those of Adolf Hitler in the 1930s.
Ms Clinton sought to clarify the remarks she made at a closed fundraising luncheon on Tuesday that Mr Putin's actions are similar what happened in the Nazi era in Czechoslovakia and Romania.
During the fundraiser in Long Beach, she was quoted as saying: "Now if this sounds familiar, it's what Hitler did back in the '30s.
"Hitler kept saying, 'They're not being treated right. I must go and protect my people.' And that's what's gotten everybody so nervous."
Responding a day later to a question over those remarks, Ms Clinton said she was not making a comparison.
But she said Russia's actions were "reminiscent" of claims Germany made in the 1930s, when the Nazis said they needed to protect German minorities in Poland and elsewhere in Europe.

Obesere rape saga: Victim Receives Death Threats; Relocates To Her Village

There are indications that the case involving  Fuji musician, Alhaji Abass Akande, also known as Obesere, arrested for allegedly raping a 29-year-old business woman, Miss Olanike Olaiya, in his Okota residence may have been  transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID.

Sources told Vanguard, yesterday, that the embattled musician preferred the SCID to the  Isolo Police division because the DPO had insisted on the matter going to court. Normally, it is  the Divisional Police Officer at Isolo Division, Aminu Ibrahim, that should have ordered the transfer of the case to SCID for further investigations. But Obesere was alleged to have used his contacts in the police to have the case transferred to SCID.
A police source also disclosed that Obesere found it difficult to pressurize the DPO at Isolo into striking out the matter or persuade the victim to accept a settlement. The source, who craved anonymity, also said Obesere contacted some top citizens to wade into the matter by persuading the DPO to soft-pedal on the  matter but they backed down when they discovered that the police have incriminating evidence against the musician.
Meantime, the victim, Olaiya, told Vanguard yesterday that she had relocated to her home town, Sagamu in Ogun State, where she is currently receiving treatment for the rape incident. Olaiya, who spoke with Vanguard on the telephone, said this:
“As I speak with you, I am in Sagamu, my home town, where I have been  receiving traditional treatment since the incident occurred. I bled for more than two weeks after Alhaji Obesere raped me and inserted his ring into my private part. The incident occurred on February 12, 2013 and I have spent a lot of money treating myself. The DPO, Isolo Police division, took pity on me and refused to give in to Obesere’s pressure to  strike out the case and God will bless him for that. But last week I was informed that the case had been transferred to the SCID and my Investigating Police Office, IPO, at Isolo asked me to come to the station on Tuesday for the transfer.
But when I got to the SCID, I discovered the IPO, who took over the case, one Mr. Jacob, I don’t know his rank, became hostile to me. You need to see how this man treated me. He started by asking me to write a new statement and when I tried to explain that I had written a statement at Isolo division, he rebuffed my explanation and insisted I wrote a new one.
Afterwards, they started threatening me. The IPO, Alhaji Obesere, and some of his brothers, who were present there, asked me to stop the journalists from publishing my story and if I don’t, I will be a dead person. I was so frightened when they said this and each time my phone rang someone would pick it up to know who was calling. Later, they discovered  I wasn’t going to break, then they started begging me and promised to take care of me. Alhaji Obesere even said he was going to take me to the best hospital for treatment.
At the end, I rose to leave and they offered to drop me in my place. The IPO also insisted that I should follow them. Instead of taking me to my area, they took me to Obesere’s house and the woman who introduced me to him was also there. While I was with them I alerted the police at Isolo and told them where I was.
But yesterday, they called after they saw the publication and started threatening again to kill me. I am highly terrified, that was why I travelled back  to my home to get some treatment.”

Maximising Osun/State Of Saxony Anhalt Collaboration

There is only one word to describe the planned collaboration between the government of the State of Osun and the German State of Saxony Anhalt to boost the state’s agriculture: heart-warming. Undoubtedly, it is an attestation to the fact that the painstaking work undertaken by the Rauf Aregbesola-led administration to attract not just investment, but expertise in critical areas of the state’s developmental needs, is finally bearing fruits.

Viewed within the context of its declared commitment to improve agricultural practices and to boost food security, it is an important signal that the administration’s avowed mission to banish poverty from the state is well on course.

Of course, it goes without saying that the state needs all the help it can get at this time to be able to optimise its potentials be it in agriculture, solid minerals or even in tourism.  As an ideas-driven administration, the present administration in the state has never left anyone in doubt about the important role of international agencies and development partners in the state’s development matrix.

Why PDP Wants Osun INEC Boss, Akeju Out

The consistent calls for the removal of State of Osun Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Ambassador
Rufus Akeju by the rattled Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) might not be unconnected with the failure of the INEC boss to compromise and allow himself to be used by the PDP, said the Alliance of Collaborating Political Parties (ACPP).

The State of Osun chapter of the ACPP said the unprecedented defeat suffered by the PDP in the 2011 general elections, where the then Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidates swept all the elected offices in the state, was part of the reason the PDP is currently aggrieved with Akeju.

According to the ACPP, the PDP is not comfortable with the fairness and uncompromised principle of Akeju, hence has to resort to blackmailing the INEC boss, with a view to relieving him of his duty in Osun and influence the transfer of a compromised INEC official to the state.

Aregbesola Promises To Place Traditional Rulers In Rightful Place

The governor informed the people that his administration highly recognizes traditional institutions in the state, adding that traditional institutions are indispensable tools for any government because they are the path-finders who represent the people at the grassroots.

PDP Can’t Rule Yorubaland Again - Osun APC

Short of war or brutish violence, there is no way the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can capture, recapture or reclaim any state in Yorubaland again.

“And the reason is simple: the destruction of the development infrastructure created by the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo for the well-being of Yoruba nation was ruthlessly destroyed by the PDP between 1999 and 2010 and the Yoruba nation will never forgive the PDP for it.”

This statement was contained in a press statement issued in Osogbo by Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Barrister Kunle Oyatomi in reaction to the reported plan of the PDP to recapture the West, starting from Ekiti and Osun states this year.

PDP Earmarks N6bn For Osun, Ekiti Guber Polls

There are speculations that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has concluded plans to lure voters to elect its candidates in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Osun and Ekiti states with N6 billion.

Investigations revealed that the party is relying on President Goodluck Jonathan-led Federal Government, which is desperate to win election in the region in 2015 to actualise the plan as a test-case for the general elections.

The party is set to float cooperative groups among traders and artisans in Osun and Ekiti, with a view to lending them funds for their businesses, in return for their votes in the forthcoming gubernatorial polls in the two states.

Misinformation, Bane Of National Integration - Laoye-Tomori

The deputy governor of the State of Osun, Otunba  (Mrs) Titi Laoye-Tomori, had stated that misinformation and wrong perception from the mass media can lead to the disintegration of not only the community, but the nation as a whole.

Laoye-Tomori made this observation during a courtesy visit to her office in Osogbo by the executive members of the South-West Zone of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) last Thursday.

She reminded the media chiefs on the need for objectivity in their various reports and shun misinformation and misrepresentation of government policies and programmes.

Making inference to some misrepresentations of the various programmes and policies of the state government in some media on school re-classification exercise, the deputy governor carpeted the media report on islamization of the state by the Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola-led administration.

The State Government of Osun has reiterated that no one can shatter the current peace being enjoyed in the state, just as commercial activities were paralysed along Station road in Osogbo, capital of the State of Osun, as bomb scare forced bankers to close business abruptly last Tuesday.

Findings disclosed that a staff of First Bank situated at the ever-busy area discovered the material and alerted the security officials of the bank, who quickly alerted the police.

It was learnt that when the Anti-Bomb Squad of the Nigeria Police arrived the scene, they had difficulty detonating the alleged bomb material, prompting the banks across the state capital to close business activities for the day.

Italy: World Cup kit gives footballers 'on-pitch massage'

High-tech football shirts to be worn by the Italian football squad at the 2014 Fifa World Cup can deliver massages to players during the game, it appears.
The shirts, which will be worn for the first time at Wednesday's friendly against Spain, contain a special tape that provides "micro-massages" for the wearer, Italian news website Il Sole 24 Ore reports. The massage strips "maximise muscle power" by allowing the body to recover from exertion more quickly, the manufacturer says.
Commenting on its looks rather than its hidden technology, Italian captain and Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon says he is impressed by the kit, adding the design has "a true Italian touch".
The Italian national side has lined up friendly fixtures in Spain, Ireland and Luxembourg before they face England in their opening game of the World Cup on 14 June.
Meanwhile, the kit is going on a tour of its own, with the manufacturer, Puma, taking it on a truck around Italian cities so fans "can express their passion for the national team", the website says.

How the Nigerian media disgraced Jonathan and his Centenary celebrations, By Garba Shehu

The way the Nigerian media largely ignored the Centenary celebrations underscores how a government and its public can see things differently
The media, as scholars have argued over time, represent the nearest approximation of public opinion because they, as interactive members of the society, affect the communities in which they are found, in the same way they are affected by them.

This lesson was brought clearly home following the big mistake made by the government, of using the commemorative events of the country’s 100 years of existence as a huge self-justification exercise. They looked as if they were more interested in defending themselves against criticism than in defending the lives of citizens we continue to lose.

Bomb scare in Osun, as police detect explosive inside bank

Pandemonium broke out in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Tuesday, as an explosive object suspected to be bomb was detected on the premises of a branch of a first generation bank in the town.
