Youth Group Blasts Critics of Election TimeTable

A youth group, Grassroots Youth Empowerment Initiative of Nigeria, (GYEIN) has challenged those faulting the recently released 2015 general elections timetable by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and imputing partisanship against the commission’s chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, to rather focus on mobilising youths to actively participate in the elections.

The group also made a case for elections to be conducted in some security challenged states in the North East, saying they would organise a sensitation programme for youths in that region.

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) rejected the election timetable released by INEC, arguing that all elections should be conducted in one day.

They further stated that the sequencing of elections as contained in the timetable was would encourage electoral irregularities. leadership.ng
