Lessons on Twerking? US college to offer class on Miley Cyrus

New York: Singer Miley Cyrus, known for her crazy stage antics, has hit a good note with a New York-based Skidmore College, which is now set to offer a class on the pop star.

"(Cyrus) complicates representations of the female body in pop culture in some ways that are good, bad, and ugly," she added.
The Saratogian newspaper additionally reported that there would be no twerking - a dance move popularised by Cyrus, during the course.
"Sorry, dudes, but this is sociology. Learn to twerk on your own time," said Chernoff.

Super Eagles: Just how good were Nigeria in 1994?

The Super Eagles generation of the mid-90s are generally considered as the finest collection of players ever assembled in the green of Nigeria; but are they as good as we remember?
It enables us to remember incidents in the past with longing. Most of the time, however, it is simply a refusal to acknowledge the rapid passage of time, or the reality of present events.

It is a widely held view, for example, that defending was much better back in the 70s and 80s. While this may be true, it does not take into account the increased (almost chaotic) pace of the modern game, and the onus on modern defenders to adapt to this as well as changes in the offside rule and quality of the actual footballers themselves.

Nigeria remembers with fondness the golden generation of 1994, helmed by Dutch coach Clemens Westerhof, which brought the country its finest hour on the world stage. They played with a swagger that was uncommon among African sides, especially considering the manner in which Senegal and Ghana would achieve acclaim in later World Cups.

FRSC Can’t Impound Vehicles With Old Number Plates – Court

Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court Lagos yesterday declared that the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) had no legal authority to impose new number plates on motorists in the country.
The judge also held that the ongoing exercise by the FRSC to replace the old number plate with a new one is illegal and unconstitutional because there is no law empowering it to carry out the exercise.
Justice Tsoho made the declaration yesterday while delivering judgment in a suit filed by a Lagos lawyer, Emmanuel Ofoegbu, against the FRSC.
Ofoegbu, in the suit, had challenged the power of the commission to impound vehicles of motorists who failed to acquire the new numbers, arguing that there is no law validly made in accordance with the constitution prohibiting the use of the old number plate.
