Tickets for Kate Bush's forthcoming tour have sold out in less than 15 minutes.
The singer, who added a further seven shows to her residency at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith this week, will now be playing 22 gigs in all.
Bush, who has not played live in 35 years, said: “I’m completely overwhelmed by the response to the shows. Thank you so much to everyone. Looking forward to seeing you all later this year.”
The tickets went on general sale this morning at 9.30am, limited to four per person. Preceding today's sale, fans who registered with Bush's website after the initial news was made were eligible to apply for a pre-sale allocation of tickets, all of which were sold within 30 minutes.
This new series of dates came as a surprise to fans of the singer, who has toured only once, in 1979. Combining music, dance, poetry, mime, burlesque, magic and theatre, the show was co-ordinated by the 20-year-old Bush with Anthony Van Laast – who later choreographed theMamma Mia! movie and several West End hits – and two young dancers, Stewart Avon Arnold and Gary Hurst. An elaborate set was dominated by a large, ribbed screen on which slides and film footage could be projected.
Further details regarding her 2014 tour are not yet known. As the Guardian's Alexis Petridis wrote: "You can speculate wildly, but the truth is that no one really has any idea what Kate Bush is going to do, which seems perfectly fitting: that's been pretty much the case throughout her career."
