2014 World Cup: Keshi, six others depart for World Cup seminar

Five officials of the Super Eagles and two members of staff of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), departed Nigeria on Sunday for a World Cup seminar in Brazil.

A statement issued by Ben Alaiya, the Super Eagles’ Media Officer, said the seven persons would take part in a FIFA- organised seminar for the 2014 World Cup.

Stephen Keshi, the Super Eagles Head Coach is leading the team, which includes, Dayo Achor, the team’s administrator and Ibrahim Gyaran, the team’s doctor.

Others are: Ben Alaiya, the team’s media officer, and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Baba, the team’s security officer.

The two NFA staff on the trip are Christian Emeruwa, Secretary of the NFA, Security Committee, and Chuks Alizor of the NFA Marketing Department.

The statement said that FIFA was preparing officials of countries that qualified for the World Cup for “professionalism and service delivery during the tournament.’’ Meanwhile, the Super Eagles have commended President Jonathan for the reception organised for them for winning bronze at the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) in South Africa.

Achor, the Eagles administrator, said the team was humbled by the reception which showed President Jonathan’s love for sports, especially football.

“President Jonathan’s love for the team is immeasurable; he visits the players whenever they are preparing for major competitions. “He always rewards the team even when it does not meet his expectations,” Achor said. (NAN)
