A non-governmental organization under the aegis of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria
(TAN) has commended the Federal Government (FG) on the recent approval
for the implementation of a 20-year
National Infrastructural Development
Master Plan as articulated and presented by the Federal Ministry of
National Planning describing it as a major step
towards sustained development of infrastructure in the country, as
being actively championed by President Goodluck Jonathan’s
transformation agenda programme.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) had in its meeting last week
approved the Master Plan for implementation with the Minister for
Information Mr Labaran Maku saying that the plan which is expected to
gulp hundreds of billions of Naira would ensure unanimous
infrastructural development across the six geo political zones in the
country by the year 2043.
The Minister for National Planning, Mallam Sulaiman Abubakar
confirmed that the Master Plan was carefully prepared for equitable
distribution of infrastructural projects in key sectors of the economy
like Transport,
Aviation, Education, Health and others sectors adding that various
stakeholders in the polity contributed to the making of the document.
TAN in a statement issued in Abuja by its Director of Public
Communication and Strategy, Dr Udenta Udenta said the document is a huge
evident that Jonathan’s administration is eager to take the country to
the expected level where it could stand to competently compete with
other nations of the world.
The statement observed that the problems bedevilling the country at
moment are as a result of lack of proper planning by successive
administrations adding that the document which will ever serve as the
legacy of transformation agenda is what the people need to be able to
believe in their country and then repose their confidence in government
and governance.
TAN therefore was seeking the immediate commencement of the
Implementation to ensure that the hope of the people are kept alive, as
according to the group any delay is dangerous and it is neither right
nor safe to create hope and slow down the process implementation. spyghana
