The Enugu State House of Assembly has on Tuesday morning impeached the state’s Deputy Governor, Sunday Onyebuchi.

Mr. Onyebuchi has been accused of operating a commercial poultry at his official residence and of flouting the orders of the State Governor, Sullivan Chime, although many are of the opinion that both allegations do not qualify as impeachment offences.
The impeachment panel had, on Monday, submitted its report to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Eugene Odo.
Chairman of the panel, Mr. Frankln Uche Oraekeiyi, who led six other members of the panel to the Speaker’s office on Monday morning, said that the report was prepared in three volumes made of their findings, the proceedings; and their recommendations, which he did not disclose.

The Deputy Governor has, however, insisted that he did not commit any offence that should have warranted his impeachment and that the poultry farm he operated was there before he assumed office in 2007.
He was reported to have also told the impeachment panel that the Governor also operated a piggery at the Government House. (channelstv)
