Eid-el-fi tri: FG declares Monday & Tuesday public holidays

The Federal Government has declared Monday, 28 and Tuesday 29 public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-fitri celebration.

The declaration of the public holidays was contained in a statement issued yesterday in Abuja by the Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro on behalf of the government.

Moro, enjoined Muslim faithful and Nigerians in general to extend the spiritual benefits of Ramadan, which he said are love, peace, justice to their daily living and through this contribute to the development of the country.

The Minister also enjoined all Nigerians to seize the opportunity of the holidays to reflect on the imperative of peace in nation building.

In a related development, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has advised Nigerians, especially air travellers, to make early preparations for their travels during the forthcoming Eid-fitr (Sallah) celebration.

Giving the advice through a statement signed by FAAN General Manager, Corporate Communications, Hon Yakubu Dati, the Authority said early plans for travels would enable air passengers to avoid the rush that usually takes place during this period at major airports across the country.   nationalmirroronline

The statement noted that airports across the country usually witnessed a huge volume of passenger traffic during the holidays due to increased local movements of passengers for the festive season.
